You know who has been absolutely terrible at sticking with her blog schedule this month? Me. To be transparent, I have been hit with a crippling bout of insomnia that has kept me up most nights and resulted in the past week feeling like a bit of a blur. My brain seems keen to throw an anxiety party every morning at about 1 AM and I’m on the top of the VIP guest list. Like all things, this too shall pass, but in the meantime, it forced me to put my blog a bit lower on my priority list for the past week. Things I’ve been doing to help: cutting back on caffeine and exercising. Hopefully, I’ll be good as new soon!
And with a million other things going on, I think I’m going to adjust my blog schedule slightly to a ‘Monday and/or Thursday and Saturday’ format, where I might post 3 days a week or 2 days a week depending on how busy I am. Since I only implemented my schedule last month, it still needs a bit of tweaking to fit into my everyday life! 🙂
As a side note: I have to tell myself often to put my mental health first. I could have powered through this week and kept my blog active but I had to put my big girl pants on and realise that I needed some quality ‘Ashley time’ that didn’t involve putting unnecessary pressure on myself. Love yourselves! <3
So September was an overall slow month for my blog (only three posts for the entire month, yikes). I got married and was away on holiday for a few weeks and then my husband had to go back to England for work for a couple weeks. While I’m in visa limbo I’m living in Canada and attempting to get all my documents updated with my new name before we can apply for my new visa. My husband is back in Canada now and my sleep seems to have gone back to normal which is promising. It’s going to be an interesting few months but it’ll all be worth it when we can finally move back home to England. In the meantime, we love Canada and have lots planned for our time here. But it is stressful and I admit I’m homesick for our flat and my bunny who sadly can’t make a flight to see me.
What’s Coming up in October
Having said all that, I do have some posts that I’ve begun writing that I will be posting within the next few weeks. It’s ‘Preptober’ with NaNoWriMo kicking off one month from today (hurray!) and I will be writing about the different ways I’m working on planning my novel. I am currently reading a really fantastic science fiction novel called The High Crusade by Poul Anderson from 1960 that I will be posting a very enthusiastic review for soon. And I also have a post in the works discussing one of the biggest reasons Goodreads stresses me out as a reader and a reviewer. I hope you all enjoy reading these ramblings as much as I enjoy writing them!
