Sorry I’ve been MIA again, but I promise I have a good reason… 🙂
My boyfriend proposed a couple weeks ago! And it was at the spot we had our first date in Hyde Park which made it even more special. So we have been doing a crazy amount of wedding planning… especially since the wedding is in September. We have been planning everything for a few months now but since we wanted to pick out the engagement ring together (we went to a store called 77Diamonds in London which was absolutely amazing!), so we decided to keep the whole thing under wraps until we were officially engaged. So now I get to scream about it to the world! I’m getting married!!
So if I ever seem like I’m disappearing on occasion within the next couple months, I’m probably picking out flowers or looking at photography packages and trying to coordinate it all with my mom back in Canada. We have something really exciting planned for the wedding which I may or may not mention on here before our big day. Surprises are more fun, aren’t they? 🙂
Another thing slightly distracting me from blogging recently has been my determination to eat a better-balanced diet and get some exercise. I’ve watched my weight creep up over the past year and I wanted to do something about it before it got out of hand. So today marks 2 months of tracking my calories in My Fitness Pal and focusing on having a healthier lifestyle. And it’s working! I’m already starting to feel better and I’ve shed a full 14 pounds. The wedding is certainly a motivator, but I’ve also got the honeymoon (potentially somewhere that requires a bathing suit — nightmare!) to keep me going as well!
Oh, and I also bought FFX/FFX2 and too many other games during the Steam summer sale. Hello nostalgia, goodbye potentially productive hours in the day.
But I am of course still reading! I finished Norse Mythology by Neil Gaiman (review coming soon!) and I’ve been reading Stephen King’s new book The Outsider in the evenings this past week. My to-read stack keeps growing at a frightening pace and I’ll never get to all the books I planned to read before the end of the summer, especially since I can’t stop buying books. It’s becoming a problem, is there a support group for this?
My recent book buys have been The Outsider, I Am Malala by Malala Yousafzai, Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine by Gail Honeyman and The Book of M by Peng Shepherd (thanks to so many positive reviews by other book bloggers!).
The Outsider is really good so far but what was a crime/thriller novel has started to verge on being more horror-fueled, so I’ve switched to reading it mostly during the day while I read Eleanor Oliphant before bed. I love Stephen King novels and it’s typically his short stories (and The Shining) that give me the heebie-jeebies, but there was a particular moment in The Outsider that made me go ‘this is now a daytime only book’.
I’ve taken today off work to get caught up on me-stuff, mostly reading and blogging and a little housework. So I’m aiming to make some progress and get a few posts scheduled for the next couple weeks. I’m debating between two different Alice inspired books for my July Curiouser and Curiouser review, so I’ll likely start one of them within the next few days. Thank you for your patience, I promise to get more content out soon. 🙂
