Book Chat: Why Autumn is the Best Season for Reading

First of all: happy first day of Autumn!

I know I’m not alone in loving Autumn more than every other season, especially when curling up with a good book. So to celebrate the first day of Autumn I wanted to go over my favourite things about the season and why they make for the best reading conditions. This entire list makes me sound like a spoiled princess but I’m a bit obsessed with making my environment as comfortable as possible, despite current stresses and anxieties. This is probably the most ‘basic’ post I’ll ever write and I’m not sorry at all because it’s been a ton of fun to put together! You have to enjoy the little things in life sometimes. 🙂

So… I got married in Las Vegas!

And that’s why I went on holiday for the past couple weeks. Surprise!

And no, it wasn’t spontaneous (though I love a good spontaneous wedding story!). We’ve been planning this for a few months now and kept it fairly hush-hush since it’s more fun that way. My husband (!) and I were married on 8 September at the Bellagio Hotel and Casino with our parents, siblings, and my best friend who was able to fly out for a few days to celebrate. It was intimate and beautiful and easily the best day of our lives. And because we love Vegas, we stayed at the Bellagio for 10 days with a fantastic view of the amazing fountains and stunning Nevada mountains. Our families stayed as well which was wonderful since we’re from different countries (the UK and Canada) and our families don’t normally get to spend very much time together.

It was so much fun and I wanted to share it with all of you! We’re living in Canada for a few months while we get the pesky visa situation sorted, so I’ll be on Canada-time for a little bit! 🙂

And now, back to our regularly scheduled bookish programming! x

August Wrap-Up: Goodbye Summer!

Since I began committing to a blog schedule in August I figured I would also start doing a Wrap-Up post around the end/beginning of every month. These posts will generally highlight the books I read the month before as well as any additional blog chit-chat. I’m sure they will develop over time, but for now we’re going to stick to the basics. I’m unfortunately posting a day late because the last few days have been tremendously busy, but I wanted to make sure I began these wrap-ups before I went on holiday. 🙂
